The Department of Oral Medicine & Radiology

Oral Medicine and Radiology is that area of special competence concerned with health and diseases of the oral and para-oral structures. It includes those principles of medicine that relate to the mouth, as well as research in biological, pathological, and clinical spheres.Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology deals with the acquisition and interpretation of radiographic imaging studies performed for diagnosis of treatment guidance for conditions affecting the maxillofacial region

Oral Medicine includes the diagnosis and medical management of diseases specific to the orofacial tissues and of oral manifestations of systemic diseases. It further includes the management of behavioral disorders and the oral and dental treatment of medically compromised patients.

Department Objective

Diagnosis and medical management of the patient with complex medical disorders involving the oral mucosa, salivary glands, orofacial pain and temporomandibular disorders.

1. Medications for premalignant lesions
2. Intra- lesional injections for OSMF
3. Vital staining and biopsy for pre-cancerous and cancerous lesions
4. Therapeutic ultrasound for Temporomandibular joint disorders
5. Extra-oral radiographic projections for Head & Neck
6. TENS therapy for treatment of oro-facial pain and TMDs
